Expanding high-speed internet infrastructure across the East Kootenays.
Thousands of rural residents are getting fiber infrastructure to their home! This major multi-year project is bringing fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) connectivity across a wide range of East Kootenay communities, providing access to ultra-high-speed internet for homes that have historically had limited or no broadband options.
Communities being served:
Extending fiber-to-the-home infrastructure to the St Marys Lake community, bringing reliable high-speed fiber internet to residents in this area.
Bringing fiber-to-the-home connectivity to the Rualt Road area along the western shore of Lake Windermere. Residents in this scenic lakeside corridor will gain access to reliable high-speed fiber internet, replacing the limited connectivity options previously available to this rural community.
Extending fiber-to-the-home service to the Bartholomew Lake community, providing modern broadband infrastructure to this rural area.
Upgrading the Golden Kicking Horse tower to commercial AC power, improving reliability and capacity for internet services in the Golden region.
Providing internet infrastructure for the Seven Nations Soaring Eagle Treatment Center. We are proud to work alongside the Lower Kootenay Band and Ktunaxa Nation on this important project, and extend our thanks to the Town of Creston for their support.
A fire on August 4th, 2025 burned our building down. Despite the devastating loss, our team had temporary equipment in place and was passing internet traffic the very next day. A new building was placed by helicopter a month later, restoring the relay site to full operation.
Replaced 15-year-old batteries and upgraded energy-collecting solar panels for improved efficiency, ensuring more reliable off-grid power for our Swansea Mountain tower site.
Doubled the number of watts in the solar array and installed a new propane backup generator, significantly improving the energy resilience and uptime of our Mount Rykerts tower site.
